Stanley A. Empie

U.S. Veteran

Stanley A. Empie, 82 of Cedar Springs, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at his home. Stanley was born October 21, 1929 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Lloyd and Mary (Streeter) Empie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He worked at the General Motors 36th Street Plant for 42 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Newaygo Sportsman’s Club, the Sand Lake VFW and the Cedar Springs American Legion. He loved his family and grandchildren very much. Surviving are his wife, Joyce (Bremmer); daughter, Jomay (Robert) Brand of Sparta; grandchildren, Dana, Katherine (Trent) DePue, Justin and fiancée, Nikki Butler; great grandson, Gavin Valdiviezo; sisters, Vivian Ryan, Betty Bremmer, Bernice (Malcolm) Taylor. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The visitation will conclude with military honors at 4:00 pm by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
