Orthello J. “Pat” Westgate, 88 of East Grand Rapids, died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Mrs. Westgate was born April 5, 1924 in Cedar Springs, MI the daughter of the late Lyle and Dora (Baker) Lockwood. She was a 1942 graduate of Cedar Springs High School and had retired from Bell Telephone Company. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and had an interest in archeology. Surviving are a stepdaughter, Barbara (Michael) Averill of Allendale; grandchildren, Dawn (Wayne) Netzel, Crystal (Darrin) Ackerman, Hazen Averill; great grandchildren, Chloe and Logan Netzel; brother, Kenneth Lockwood of Cedar Springs; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Howard) Simons; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Westgate; stepson, Douglas Westgate; brothers, Robert and Richard Lockwood. The family would like to extend their thanks to the caring staff and friends at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes Assisted Living. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:30 am until time of service at 1:00 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs.
